Located in Atenas in the province of Alajuela in Costa Rica, Hotel Boutique Villa Toscana and its nine luxurious rooms will charm you at first sight. Discover how everything began.
Francine Robert, originally from Quebec, began this adventure in the year 2010 while exploring this magnificent country, touring one town after another.
Two months were enough to be captivated by this beautiful country; where she encountered people who were welcoming, kind, and always ready to lend a helping hand. Pure life!!!
She particularly fell in love with the people of Atenas, a town she discovered on the way to the airport. At that time, since highway #27 was under construction, all vehicles traveled on highway #3, which caused a great traffic congestion in Atenas, prompting her to choose Santa Eulalia as a resting spot.
Early in 2010, Ms. Robert traveled alone and, during her stay in the country, her two daughters, Geneviève and Guy-Anne, came with their families to visit her, as well as her husband Marc (Marcos). For this reason she had to make the commute from the ocean front to the airport several times and, on every occasion, she would stop to rest at Santa Eulalia.
This wonderful adventure is the culmination of five years of hard work, reflection, imagination, and research. In order to accomplish this she had to invest much of her resources and team up with a variety of talented professionals, such as architects, painting artists, landscapers, and others, to finally achieve the current condition.
What she desires is a place that is cozy, warm, respectful of nature, a serene and quiet space, where it would be very pleasant to live. She would love to host people from around the world here, so they too can feel the sweetness and serenity of this place.

Atenas is located in the county of Alajuela, Costa Rica, Central America. It is a small city situated in the northern region of the Central Valley, surrounded by mountains. It is a mere 25 minutes away from Juan Santamaría International Airport, and just off the main highway to Central Pacific beaches such as Herradura, Jacó, and Manuel Antonio.
One interesting fact is that in 1960, National Geographic Magazine rated Atenas as the city with the best climate in the world. Temperatures range between 17 and 19 degrees Celsius in January, and reach a maximum of 27 to 30 degrees Celsius in March, for an average temperature of 24 degrees.
Due to this characteristic it has been said that Atenas is one of the towns with the greatest longevity among its dwellers, and an excellent place to recover from asthma, rheumatism, etc.
Atenas boasts a very high literacy rate (99.3%), and a great proportion of its population is bilingual, which has fostered a thriving real estate business in this marvelous valley.
Main bank branches such as Banco Nacional de Costa Rica, Banco de Costa Rica, and Banco Popular, are all located near its Central Park, as well as the Court House. There is also a variety of restaurants, cafeterias, coffee shops, ice cream parlors, various stores, supermarkets, and even candy shops, so you can find and purchase anything you might need.
Walking along the streets of Atenas we notice people of different nationalities, such as Canadians, Americans, Swiss, Germans, among others, who have made this city their new home.
